Demand for purpose build student accommodation has always been high in the UK as the number of applicants grows each year. In 2018, a 5.7% increase in applicants was seen, as compared to the previous year, where one-fifth were from the overseas and one-third rise in the number of prospective students (y-o-y) from China could be seen.
Liverpool, Manchester, Bristol and many new towns offer opportunities in the sector that has always attracted plenty of attention making it a good investment as there is always a guarantee on the rent price given.
Such investments are made for the long-term where the investors can earn through rental income and property appreciation.
Knight Frank assumes the demand in the sector will continue to grow at a rate of 15 percent until 2030. The number of students coming to regional cities like Manchester will grow as Manchester hosts four universities and 14 higher education centres.
