Global steel demand to fall 6.4% to 1.65 billion T in 2020, says WorldSteel

LONDON (Reuters) - Global steel demand is expected to fall by 6.4% this year to 1.65 billion tonnes because of the COVID-19 pandemic's impact on industrial and construction activity, the World Steel Association said on Thursday.Demand for steel is expected to increase by 3.8% to 1.72 billion tonnes next year, the association said in a statement.
