European insurer shares fall as row over dividends breaks out

MUNICH/LONDON (Reuters) - Shares in Europe's insurers fell sharply on Friday after the industry's EU regulator said they should temporarily halt dividends and share buybacks in response to the coronavirus epidemic.Some firms said they would resist such a move and Germany indicated its opposition.Dutch insurers NN Group and Aegon slumped around 10% while France's CNP Assurances fell 7% and AXA was down 4%.
