One can get low priced Alfa Spider or some of the models of Ferrari Daytona from these websites at attractive rates. In three years from 2015, the rise in value in Porsche 993 Carrera 2 was significant (from £45,000 to £55,000). These cars are easy to hold, although, expensive to insure.
These can be stored in garages and held for years to get higher values. Some investors hold these cars for five to ten years, but most such cars are out of condition. If the cars are not used or stored properly, it may require investment on repair. Some 1970s old, luxury car may require investment up to £25,000 to be worth £40,000.
Investment in luxury car equities
Some websites such as Rally Rd offers investment in such options through equity shares of collectibles and luxury vehicles. It raised $7 million fund in new funding this year. The website offers 10 different types of luxury cars for trading and the value of its cars fluctuates on each trade. The platform boasts more than 50,000 users. The company says it offers luxury asset ownership in liquid format.
Auctions and dealers
Luxury vintage can be bought at auctions at bargain rates but the main problem with such auctions is that one does not get enough time to inspect the interiors, various parts and features of the car. Misjudgement of the condition can lead to loss in such auctions.
If the dealer offers an opportunity to inspect the car, one can guess the most practicable price. Buying through such dealers can be a good investment.
Some of the cars can be bought through private owners who keep their luxury vehicles in proper safe garage and regularly monitor its conditions. Such sellers may offer proper documentation of service and flexible prices, which are highly advantageous.
Selling such cars can take months or weeks but it is worth buying a car in proper condition from private owners, as one can get better resale value.
In case of private buying, one should not go for impulsive buying and should get a third party analysis of the purchase through reliable inspector having good knowledge of luxury cars.
One can visit the vintage dealers and get an option to look into a variety of models i.e. different generation cars, and some offerer may provide after sale service, but the cost offered by such dealers may be more as compared to private seller.
Getting proper analysis of the car from a knowledgeable individual can help in getting the right product for the right price.
